Four cylinders in the executive saloon.
The G30 530i uses a turbocharged four-cylinder in this market specification. Compare it with the M54-powered E60 530i to see why a badge is not a permanent engine description.

One turbocharger
One exhaust-driven turbocharger compresses the intake air. Charge-air cooling then reduces the temperature before the air reaches the cylinders.
Rear-wheel drive
An eight-speed automatic gearbox delivers torque to the rear wheels. The separate 540i uses a straight-six; a 530i badge does not imply a 3.0-litre engine.
