A grand tourer with a useful tailgate.
The 640i Gran Turismo puts a B58 straight-six into a taller, long-distance body. The Gran Turismo concept prioritises a different kind of practicality from the lower 6 Series Gran Coupé.

B58 · Inline-six
The 640i Gran Turismo uses a 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six rated at 340 PS and 450 Nm. A large tailgate and flexible rear-seat backrest distinguish it from a conventional sedan.

One turbocharger
One exhaust-driven turbocharger compresses the intake air. Charge-air cooling then reduces the temperature before the air reaches the cylinders.
Rear-wheel drive
An eight-speed Steptronic transmission drives the rear wheels in this specification. The 640i xDrive Gran Turismo adds all-wheel drive; later mild-hybrid updates have separate ratings.
