Coordinated front and rear electric motors
The i5 M60 xDrive combines a front electric drive unit with a rear electric drive unit. Its selected launch specification reaches up to 442 kW, with up to 820 Nm when M Sport Boost or M Launch Control is active.
81.2 kWh usable energy
The underfloor lithium-ion battery provides 81.2 kWh of usable energy in the selected specification. Usable capacity describes the driver-accessible operating window and differs from gross capacity.
Understand the peak figures
The headline figures describe peak system capability. BMW specifies the 820 Nm torque with M Sport Boost or M Launch Control; output and torque outside these conditions differ. Battery usable capacity is 81.2 kWh.
Recover energy while slowing down
During deceleration, the drive motors can act as generators. Power electronics manage energy recovered into the high-voltage battery, while physical brakes provide additional stopping force.
